Ufa to Kazan. Should have been a breeze albeit a slightly long one at
600km. But Lord Lucas struck at about 5km out of this morning's MTC and it took us over
30 mins to find the problem - the ignition switch appears to be stuffed - probably ingested too much Mongolian dust.
Then a slight detour put us a bit further behind, so we were late for
the first three controls but then got our act together, got back on time
and actually did ok in the rest of the days events, including a couple
of spirited laps of the KazanRing. Not quite up
there with the Nordschleife but fun nonetheless. There were also a
couple of gravel stages which were fun, one we were too late for the
other we did ok on. Got into Kazan at about 6 to find the clocks go back
two hours! Also needed to adjust the clutch as it’s coming up a bit
late. And fix up all the electrics we tore apart trying to find the
problem 🤣🤣🤣
Photos of nodding donkeys in the fields, sunset over Kazan and today’s
results - currently 32nd overall and 17th in class..... Edit: added my
latest favourite Gerard Brown photo of Gidget powering (🤣) out of a corner on the last gravel stage...
