0107 - Day 18 - Balkhashino (camp 7) to Kostanay - 19/06/19

Today was a transit day with three stages. And no clutch!
First was on a narrow tarmac track in the woods just outside camp - I think it was a training track for the cross country skiers during winter - it was certainly narrow enough. Great fun. Stuck it in second and used the torquey engine to good effect. Time was ok considering!
Second was 50km of rough dirt so we chickened out and headed for the third, which was only 12km and the STC was smooth and fast. Also great fun. Sadly we found David and Jo in the Sunbeam in the hedge halfway round so that looks like a bit of work to sort but they are both fine thankfully.
Then on to the hotel in Kostanay which resembles more of a hostel than hotel. I think the rooms might be sold by the hour, if you know what I mean. So I got my sleeping bag and liner from the car, and slept like a baby! The reception here was overwhelming again - literally thousands of people held back from the cars by railings and police. Just as I finished servicing the car they were let in. It was bedlam!!
