0093 - Day 4 - Ekhet (camp 1) to Ulaan Bataar 5/06/19
Day 4: Ekhet (camp 1) to Ulaan Baatar. Later start than normal and a
long day almost entirely on rough gravel meant we didn’t get to UB until
7pm. But as it turns out that wasn’t as late as some 😀.
The day comprised back to back tests and given we were in
car-preservation mode, we accumulated a LOT of penalties. But apart from
hitting an enormous rock with the rear cross member (which threw us up
in the air and caused some excitement in the cockpit!) and a fuel leak
resulting from a banjo being shaken
loose, the car is in good order. Spanner and fluids checks today
confirmed all is where it needs to be. She was a bit grumpy late in the
day in traffic coming into Ulaan Baatar but then so was I, and I’m
putting it down to altitude. She started first turn this morning so a
small tweak should sort that out. Then we just need to work out how we
further reduce weight. Sorry for the lack of photos....
