Kostanay (home of the Beirut Special hotel) to Bannoe Lake “resort” via
Magnetigorsk and two fun but terrifyingly fast stages - in that the
average speed was expected to be in the order of 100kph.
I think they
are trying to separate the field!
As we were still on clutchless
gearchanges I found third and plugged away. First one we caught the
Volvo (no 60) which left two minutes ahead of us within 4km but got past
on a dip - gave Gidget flying practice again.
Then on the
second stage we caught them again - and that was only about a seven km
stage. Ah well. Karma. They were unnecessarily rude earlier at the
border crossing so got to eat Gidget’s dust π
Last night two lovely fellow competitors (Adrian and Owen) kindly offered to ship our
parts with theirs that are being hand carried out tomorrow, so assuming
we can find a garage capable of changing the clutch we could be back in
business following the Ufa “rest” day! Yay! Can’t say I was looking
forward to driving all the way to St Petersburg on no clutch! Sorry, no
photos as they are on the other phone and there’s no Wifi in this
“resort” ππππ
We’ll keep pushing on. Field was down to 79 cars last night so we
consider ourselves lucky to still be moving under our own steam. Sort
of!
Link for today is the same footage as yesterday
