Day
3: Basically this was spent getting across the border or getting lost.
Or both. We were up at sparrows to get a line formed up at the border
crossing for when it opened at 8am. We finally got out of the Mongolian
side at 12.00. And the MTC for the day was still 200km away and we were
due at 1.45. We would have made it except they turned the day into a
transit. But threw in a quick navigation with
some misleading instructions from one who will remain nameless, but it
resulted in us driving unchallenged into an Air Force base, doing circle
work to find the waypoint now the wrong side of barbed wire, and
driving back to the gate to be met by three unimpressed gents with large
sub machine guns! The rest of the run to our first camp at Ihkhet was
uneventful if rather fast for my liking! I was knackered and dehydrated
so as soon as my tent was up I was asleep! Obviously no photos of the
border or airforce base although the spot tracker gave us away (thanks Tom 😀)
